I recorded a new music album

Greetings all!  I just finished recorded a new music album — of thirteen songs.  They’re all original songs that I wrote, and I did all the guitar playing and singing (and some whistling too).  I thought a lot about how to present this album — in this day and age of fewer and fewer people listening to whole albums and more and more people listening just to individual songs.  I realized that I most fervently wished for this album to be listened to in its entirety — as a whole.  That’s how I like to listen to it.  It does something to me when I listen to it that way, something to my heart and soul — it brings me somewhere inside myself.  And I’m hoping it will do that for others.

For this reason, I realized that the best place for me to share it that way is on YouTube, as a single track.  That said, I recognize that some people might prefer to listen to one or another of the individual songs alone, so I also put it on Bandcamp, where you can buy individual original tracks for download.  You can also buy the whole album if you wish.  Although it would be nice for me to make some money from these songs I wrote and recorded, I realize that because of the content that they embody — all about healing from trauma, finding one’s own healthy way in this sad and crazy world, finding value in life — I realized that the money aspect was secondary for me.  Mostly, I just want to make sure that anyone who wants to listen to this album, anyone who might find some peace and solace and allyship from listening to it, would have access to it, for free.  And so it’s now up on YouTube.  The link to YouTube is up above (and here too), and here’s a link to its Bandcamp page, in case you want to buy/download it.

Also, I just revamped my music page on this website, which has links to my other albums and some songs I’ve put on YouTube.

So, warm hello to you all!!

Daniel

  1. Hello Daniel! I’m a big fan of your work!
I would like to ask you, what made you revert back to your whole original self?

  2. Hi Daniel,

I am hoping to use some of your clips in a project I am working on that is intended to be published to YouTube. The project is just intended to make the point that childhood trauma is ubiquitous rather than rare. You have been such an important part of my journey in this regard, and it would really feel like your voice was missing if I didn’t include you. I’m not sure if this is the best way to contact you, but I couldn’t find an email address to reach you at (maybe I’m just not seeing it?) The video wouldn’t be mostly about you – it would be combining opinions from lots of different sources on the subject. I would also like to include a little bit from “Take These Broken Wings” as well since part of the point I want to make is that the idea that mental illnesses are caused primarily by childhood is starting to become either more popular or at least more openly discussed.

I just wanted to hopefully get your permission before using your clips, as I recently rewatched your consent video. 🙂 Thank you and all the best!

  3. Very lovely to listen to. I truly enjoyed it.
I listened your youtube with “psychosis is an expression fo early childhood trauma” last night and lead me this music. My son had huge outburst recently destroyed my house…. I know he has started mentioning about his childhood trauma…. So your talk made sense…
    Thanks for your work.

  7. I listened to the whole album in one sitting. I was especially struck by one line about two thirds of the way through — something about feeling like you had finally found your way back to a creative juice you hadn’t been at it for so, so long. And at that moment in the album, I remembered a time in my life when I had taped a few original tunes on a cassette recorder. I’ve done plenty of creative things since then but song-writing isn’t one of them. In those days I didn’t care how “good’ it came out. I just “had” to do it. And you’re there now. Bravo! I want to go there too.

  8. In a world obsessed with male female romance and literally 90% music based on that ……listening to anything that’s different unique and directed towards own self is going to be a worthwhile experience….
I’m excited and I am also amazed at how talented you are….

  9. Can’t wait to listen to it and thank you for offering it for free. Want comes from the heart is more valuable when shared, like food. Been inspired by you for ten or more years now and happy you’re still doing important work.
